God rest you merry, gentlemen,
let nothing you dismay;
remember Christ, our Savior
was born on Christmas Day
to save us all from Satan's pow'r
when we were gone astray.
O tidings of comfort and joy, comfort and joy,
O tidings of comfort and joy.
“Fear not," then said the angel,
"let nothing you affright;
this day is born a Savior,
the true and radiant light,
to free all those who trust in him
from Satan's pow'r and might.
English Carol
The sin we were born in, the sins done against us and the sins
we commit always bring us to despair. But, the message of the Gospel is always
one of encouragement. As Corrie ten Boom said many years ago, “There is no pit
that He is not deeper still.” No matter what we have done, Jesus came to bring
forgiveness! That is “comfort and joy!” He sets us free from our past. True
“comfort and joy!”
