Bullock and Beckham Concert

Oh, you all should've been there! Tonight, at KCCBS, here in Overland Park, we were privileged to hear the once infamous Bullock and Beckham duo! Talk about memories!!! I, along with many others in the Holiness movement, grew up listening to Richard Beckham and Rex Bullock as well as Ann Baldwin. What a trip down memory lane...they were both reminiscing in between songs. They sang some of their "signature songs" such as "Oh Glorious Love," "Christ Is Not A Disappointment," as well as "Mine Eyes Have Seen the Glory."
I am extremely nostalgic, and do still remember the time that Richard was singing at the Overland Park Church of God (Holiness) many years ago. I was probably 10 - 12 years old when this happened. The church was packed to the gills and suddenly, three men walked in, strangers to the congregation. At least one of them was dressed in all black. They came clear up to the front and sat down. Richard Beckham sang "Mine Eyes Have Seen the Glory," and God's presence was manifest. Later, it was learned that the man in black, was a warlock. He had actually married a couple who were in the congregation. He had a desire to come into a church service again, after turning his back on God and becoming an arch follower of Satan. It was quite the story!
Well, anyway, that was my evening! Hope to hear from some more of you out there!

A Prophet's Reward? Really?

In Matthew 10:40-42 we read "He who receives you receives me, and he who receives me receives the one who sent me. Anyone who receives a prophet because he is a prophet will receive a prophet's reward, and anyone who receives a righteous man because he is a righteous man will receive a righteous man's reward. And if anyone gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones because he is my disciple, I tell you the truth, he will certainly not lose his reward." Did you catch that? A prophet's reward? A righteous man's reward? This is really exciting! It's not only the one who actually does the good deed or preaches the sermon, or goes to the mission field who will receive rewards, but the ones who are supporting them and holding up their hands! It can seem to those who are state side or who can't seem to do "great" things, that they have nothing or little to offer the Lord. But, I beg to differ based on this passage.
I think of my own parents. They are not flashy or big name people. They have never pastored a church or gone to the mission field. But, they have worked quietly behind the scenes many times to advance God's work. For example, several times in the past number of years, they have hosted in their home for an extended period of time, Leroy and Myrtle Adams who are missionaries to Egypt. My mother has helped arrange their schedule and helped coordinate missionary services for them in the mid west. My mother has cooked them meals. My father has shuttled them around and paid for restaurant meals for them. Is it possible, based on this passage of scripture that in heaven, when the rewards are passed out to Leroy and Myrtle Adams that we will also hear "Gary and Alma Jean Wright?"
So, my friend, if you feel that you have little or nothing to offer, look around and see who you can come along side...who you can support in some way. Remembering that each act of service from a heart of love for the Savior will not be forgotten or overlooked!

Travel Thoughts

Hello, Everyone! It's still winter here, but the good things is that it can't last much longer! I really like this harbor template. As a young person at God's Bible School in Cincinnati, I was privileged to do a lot of traveling. What memories! We were privileged to be in more than one eastern state and view neat places along the ocean and other such areas. I've been to the boardwalk and walked along that...I've been to Plymouth where the Mayflower replica is...I've been to Harker's Island in North Carolina...I've been down south in Florida at the beach over on the Western side...it would be nice to be there now!
Three years ago, I traveled to Hobe Sound, FL and viewed the ocean from the beach there...it was so pretty. I hope that some day, I'll be able to see more places...oh, and I can't forget to tell you about the time in the summer of 92, I was privileged to travel with Dave and Frances Fuller and Julie. We were transported to the Baltimore inner harbor by boat with their friends Andy and Joy Coolie. That was so neat!
Well, it's back to reality here in frozen Kansas...hope to hear from some of you in "blogger land."

Winter Musings

Hello, everyone,
I want to write to you in this wintery blue color...I am ready for it to end!!! I haven't taken any new pictures lately, so won't be including one of those...
I keep going in my crazy pace of working at two different Assisted Living places as well as teaching a few piano students and playing at nursing homes, etc. several times a month.
Right now, my grandma and hubby are down south at Hobe Sound Camp...I should've gone, too!! What a beautiful spot that can be this time of year...

Write to me...
